Online radio stations

Last updated on February 3, 2012.

The stations should function properly using any browser. I have tested them all on Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome.

Bienvenue en Louisiane, hosted by Wayne Greene out of Dallas, Texas, currently broadcasts on Loudcaster and Live365* in stereo. The station's playlist consists of contemporary and classical Cajun, Creole, and Zydeco music recordings.

If you choose to listen to Bienvenue en Louisiane on Live365 but another station appears when you open the link, just type in bienvenue en louisiane in the upper right search box and click on GO. Then click on the arrow of the music player in the left column.

Radio Louisiane is hosted by Cajun French-speaking DJ 'Tee' Mick Abed out of Jennings, Louisiana who broadcasts contemporary and classic Cajun, Creole, and Zydeco selections on Live365 in mono audio.

Cajun Music Radio Network, which includes some Zydeco tunes, Zydeco Music Radio, and Bons Temps Zydeco broadcast on Live365 in mono audio.

Gumbo Radio broadcasts out of Louisiana on Live365 in stereo. The playlist consists of a mix of Cajun, Zydeco, swamp pop, blues, R&B, jazz, rock, funk, and soul music.

Zydeco Online out of Louisiana is a Zydeco information website that includes a stereophonic music jukebox player with Zydeco selections. The site also has occasional live stream broadcasts.

Zydeco Zity Radio, which also plays Cajun music, broadcasts out of the Netherlands live every Sunday in stereo.

Passion Country Mégantic broadcasts out of Quebec in stereo but is not a Cajun/Zydeco music station. The playlist primarily consists of American-style country music sung in French, mainly by artists from Quebec and the neighbouring maritime provinces. The playlist also includes some English-language country music.

KBON fm broadcasts Cajun, Zydeco and swamp pop music in stereo out of Louisiana but can only be listened to online if you sign up for the station's paid membership first.

Following the online radio stations listing is the link to the Rendevous Des Cajuns Radio Show, which broadcasts live Cajun and/or Zydeco band performances every Saturday beginning at 18:00 (6:00 PM) Louisiana time. The broadcast is streamed in stereo through Louisiana PBS fm radio station KRVS, which can be accessed by scrolling down to the bottom of the webpage. Click on KRVS, followed by "Listen Online" in the upper right. Then click on "Launch MP3 stream" if you have one or more of the iconed online media players installed on your computer. The website used to be kept up to date in the way of announcing what artists and bands would be performing, but discontinued doing so after July 2011.

*About Live365: California-based Live365 has over 10,000 radio stations that stream from many countries. It is compatible with all browsers and can be listened to online in almost every nation. Basic membership is free, but with occasional commercial interruptions. Some stations can only be listened to if you sign up for one of the Live365 paid VIP membership packages. With VIP, listening is also commercial-free. Except for Bons Temps Zydeco, the Live365 Cajun/Zydeco stations linked on this blog can be listened to for free without signing up for VIP.
